What I collect: If you email me, I receive your address and message so I can reply. I use that correspondence only to respond, unless we agree something else.
Technical data: Like most websites, hosting infrastructure may create standard server logs (for example which pages were requested and when). I do not use those logs to profile individual readers. I do not describe my hosting stack here; your provider’s privacy terms apply to how they handle infrastructure data.
Cookies / analytics: I do not use advertising trackers. I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and how they are used — for example which calculators people download a schedule from or share, and when a comment is posted. Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Decline, or make no choice, it does not load and sets no cookies.
When it runs, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which hold a random identifier for up to 2 years so that repeat visits can be counted. The provider is Google Ireland Limited. According to Google’s documentation, IP addresses from visitors in the EU, Switzerland and the UK are used only to estimate an approximate location and are then discarded, not stored. Google may also process data outside the EU, including in the USA — see Google’s privacy policy.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with the button below or Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing deletes the Google Analytics cookies.
Stored in your browser: your light/dark theme choice and your cookie choice are saved in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to me or anyone else.
Comments: Blog post comments are stored on this website’s hosting account so they can be displayed below the relevant post. If you comment, I store the name, email address (not published), comment text, time of submission, and a hashed IP address for basic spam protection.
